SmallBiz Stack helps small business owners in the United States choose the software they run their business on: payroll, accounting, CRM, email marketing, e-commerce and point of sale.
Most software reviews either list every product under the sun or bury the price behind a “contact sales” button. We do the opposite. Each guide compares a small number of real options head to head, shows the actual prices from each vendor’s pricing page, and works through a cost example for a business like yours, so you can see what you would really pay in the first year.
What we cover
- Payroll & HR: paying employees and contractors, payroll taxes and HR tools
- Accounting: bookkeeping, invoicing, bills and reports
- CRM & Sales: managing leads, deals and sales follow-up
- Email Marketing: newsletters, automations and customer emails
- E-commerce: selling online, platforms and payment fees
- Point of Sale: selling in person, from cafés to retail stores
How we research and compare software
- Prices come from the source. We check each vendor’s official pricing page on the date shown at the top of every article, and we say so when a vendor only gives quotes or when a figure comes from an independent review.
- We calculate real costs. Every comparison includes a worked example (for example, a 10-person team or a store doing $10,000 a month) so you can see the total, not just the starting price.
- We name the limits. User caps, invoice limits, onboarding fees, contract terms and extra transaction fees are the details that change a decision, so we put them in plain sight.
- We update. Software pricing changes often. Articles carry a “Last updated” date, and we revisit them when vendors change their plans.
- We never sell verdicts. Some links may be affiliate links, which help keep the site free. Commissions never decide which product we recommend, and we recommend products that pay us nothing when they are the better fit.
